Do’s, Don’ts and How to’s

How to care for your French Bulldog

Here are a few helpful tips to consider when taking care of your Frenchie.

  1.  Keep them cool: their short noses make it difficult for them to self regulate their temperature so make sure to splash some water on their belly’s, give them ice cubes and plenty of water to keep them cooled off. If you take them outside, especially during the summer, make sure its not for very long as they can over heat.
  2. Cleaning your Frenchie: their ears are always open so you want to clean their ears with a solution regularly also make sure to fully dry their ears after a bath to reduce risk of an ear infection.
  3. Use a harness: This will reduce the risk of them choking themselves. Frenchies have a unique body shape, with big heads, big fronts of their bodies and smaller ends. The harness helps them pull on the right places to keep them from hurting their backs.
  4. Be careful around large bodies of water: Most Frenchies cannot swim, so if you plan on heading to a large body of water make sure to keep them safe with a doggy life jacket or keep them on a leash.
  5. Frenchies are very affectionate: Let them love you! Frenchies are very loving, sociable and want to be with you all the time. They love to snuggle and follow you around the house. So give them all that love back and you will have an amazing companion.
